Hi again.

What is this script doing? I assume its just telling the node what the external ip address is?

What happens if that web site is down?

Can I place a copy of the script on one of my servers?

Thanks,

Matt

Yes, it says the public Internet IP of the GW node. This IP is then used for an iptables block rule and to create /tmp/current-wan-ip for other checks.

It won't be able to use this data. We used another server to get this IP and we thought what would happen in that case, so we choose to use our own server because if it down, the rest of the services will be down too so no "external" use of the Internet connection will be allowed because of the unreachable WiFiDog Auth server and etc.

Yes, no problem: http://svn.assembla.com/svn/lugro-mesh-dev/branches/sebastian/trunk/doc/www/whatismyip.php

Thanks Julio.

I thought that was the reason why it was doing it. I have 1 further question though...

What file do i need to modify on the node to point it to the new location?

Thanks,

Matt.

You need to change in /etc/init.d/nightwing this line (put your URL):
INET_PUBLIC_IP=$(wget -q -O- http://lugro-mesh.org.ar/whatismyip.php)

(Before this line, it's commented a line with the service that we used before)
